As professor emeritus of UPLB, Dr. Mateo is currently involved in the Scientific Career Council ( DOST-NAST ) as a member of the Special Technical Committee  Agricultural Sciences Division empowering and promoting world- class Filipino scientists to the government service. She is serving as a member of the Scientific Technical Review Panel  (DA- BPI) to review and evaluate scientific data in the risk assessment and risk management strategies of different regulated articles applied as food, feed, or for processing. As a recipient of the 2019 PHILSAN Most Outstanding Animal Nutritionist and 2014 NRCP Lifetime Achievement awardee, Dr. Mateo has been actively involved in the outreach programs extending technical services in animal health and nutrition to our local poultry and livestock farmers. As a recipient of the 2019 UPLB Distinguished Alumni award in Veterinary Education and Research, the editorial board of the UPLBAA had selected her as one of the alumni worthy to be featured in the TATAK UPLB coffee book
