Biosketch

She started her career at the University of the Philippines Los Baños as a Research Associate at the Dairy Training Research Institute and at the Animal Nutrition Division of the Institute of Animal Science. She became a faculty member in 1994. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in animal science more specifically in the fields of meat and dairy science, and poultry production. She was a recipient of the Philippine Agriculture-Fulbright Scholarship for Research in 2002. She mentors undergraduate and graduate students as an academic adviser or as a member of the graduate advisory committee of Masters, and Doctor of Philosophy students. She received the PSAS Outstanding Teacher Award in Animal Science in 2016. Her research includes studies on meat and dairy product quality assessment, animal food product development, food safety in the meat and dairy supply value chain, and poultry production. Her recent research studies involve development of technology innovations that will address some concerns of the animal food industry of the country. She received several best awards for papers presented in professional conferences in animal science. She serves as reviewer of local and international scientific journals, and as technical evaluator of government funded research projects. She is a member of several professional organizations and for several years, has been serving as a member of the Governing Council of the Philippine Society of Animal Science. She served as College Secretary of the College of Agriculture and Food Science, a key administrative position, from 2011 to 2019.
