Dr. Elpidio M. Agbisit, Jr., lone nominee for CAFS deanship, made a public presentation last May 9 at the Animal Science Lecture Hall 1, Institute of Animal Science (IAS) Complex.
Dr. Agbisit is a tenured faculty, currently serving as associate professor at the Animal Production Division of the IAS. He joined the college as a research assistant in 1988, before serving as director of the Animal and Dairy Sciences Cluster, and now the Institute of Animal Science, since December 2013.
In his presentation, Dr. Agbisit stressed the importance of harmonizing the college’s plan and program with the needs of the agriculture industries. His 10-year plan focuses on modernizing facilities and equipment; assessment of BS Agriculture curriculum at par with the ASEAN University Network accreditation; revision of the undergraduate programs; supporting research initiatives of the different institutes; and assisting faculty, REPS and staff through professional development program.
“I am at awe at how Dr. Supangco handled CAFS. Some of the college’s institutes are even bigger than other colleges at the university, yet he was able to steer them well,” exclaimed Dr. Agbisit.
Faculty, staff and administrators from the different academic and research institutes at the college graced the event. Also present was Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Portia G. Lapitan, chair of the search committee.
The call for new CAFS dean was launched late last April to succeed Dr. Enrico P. Supangco, who is scheduled to retire by the end of August this year.
