The Institute of Animal Science (IAS) announced the relaunch of its website with its official domain at https://ias.cafs.uplb.edu.ph/ last 01 August 2022.
Within four months of redesign and redevelopment process since April 2022, the IAS Website Development and Management Committee (IAS WebDev) in cooperation with its Project Development Associates from the UPLB Information Technology Center was able to make significant changes and rebuild the sitemap to add more features and utilities.
Putting premium on user-centered design (UCD), IAS WebDev, previously led by Dr. Nenita L. de Castro and later assumed by Ms. Kamla Zyra G. Lavadia upon Dr. de Castro’s retirement, reorganized the web interface and highlighted completed research and extension projects. The resource downloads and curricular programs are also added features on the website.
With the rise of social media groups among animal farmers, IAS Director Rommel C. Sulabo visualized to provide science-based solutions to problems in animal production as an effort to fight misinformation and (dis)information in the public sphere.
“We wanted to help our animal farmers get access to technical information about animal science through technical messages packaged in various modalities,” Dr. Sulabo mentioned in an interview.
Found under Public Service menu, IAS e-Extension System is a series of vodcasts launched in September 2021 that feature various experts in animal and related sciences to discuss relevant issues facing the animal industry. The most recent of which was the fight against African Swine Fever (ASF).
To cater the academic community, abstracts of research outputs are listed by commodity (e.g., poultry, swine, beef cattle, dairy, goat, and animal product development) under the Research tab as a digital public library.
IAS website also features individual web profile to keep students and research collaborators abreast with the recent projects of IAS faculty and staff. Latest events, training, seminars/webinars, and Institute accomplishments and announcements can be found in the News and Updates section. IAS is pleased to invite you to visit the updated website!
